What Do I Know?: A Survey of Modern Thought

The twelfth grade theme, “What Do I Know?: A Survey of Modern Thought,” focuses on what we can know from the expression of philosophical thought about beauty and the nature of being human. This theme is captured by digital artistic expressions in film analysis and production. Student groups/crews are expected to demonstrate control over the elements of basic filmmaking. Once the film is completed the students edit the footage and create short conceptual videos. Film production groups learn to support one another in the process of creatively conveying an idea to an audience that is based on their studies in the other Core classes. These projects emphasize teamwork, cooperative learning, and creative problem solving while allowing students to design their own creative approaches to the broad thematic questions they wrestle with in their senior year. How can we know? How can we be sure? How can we create a better world?
